How Do I Become a Member?

Membership is open to individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community. In order to become a member, you must first signal your intention to adhere to the rules of the Community Centre by agreeing to our membership rules and guidelines upon registration.

Membership Rules and Guidelines
Expectations

As members of the Community Centre, you are ultimately responsible for orchestrating the experience you wish to have here and by signing up to becoming a member, you are signaling that you intend to use the space in accordance with the rules and regulations outlined here.

The Code
If you are in need any of kind of support while using the Community Centre, talk to the staff members and they will be happy to assist. Otherwise, please navigate the space with the following rules in mind:
Respect & Inclusivity​
All members must treat each other with respect, kindness, and dignity. Discrimination, harassment, or bullying of any kind, including on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, religion, or disability, is strictly prohibited.

Privacy & Confidentiality​
Members’ privacy is paramount. Discussions, identities, and personal information shared within the club must remain confidential. No photographs, videos, or audio recordings may be taken without explicit consent from all parties involved.​

The physical address of The Community Centre should NEVER be shared on social media or in any other public forum; geo-tagging of the location is strictly prohibited.

Guest Policy
Members may bring 1 guest to club events per month, but guests must adhere to the same rules and code of conduct as members. Members are responsible for teaching their guests the code of conduct and the overall behavior of their guests, and ultimately responsible for any damage their guest is responsible for.
Event Conduct
Club events are meant to foster community, inclusivity, and support. Disruptive behavior, including excessive intoxication, aggression, or any form of anti-social behavior will not be tolerated.

Noise Policy
Quiet enjoyment is a requirement to use the space. We encourage the use of earphones and discourage talking on loud speaker, loud talking, shouting, or other outbursts.

Non-Solicitation
The club is a social and supportive space, not a business platform. Members are prohibited from soliciting other members for business or personal financial gain, unless it is part of an approved club event or activity.

Conflict Resolution
Any conflicts between members should be handled respectfully. If needed, the club has a conflict resolution process, where members can bring issues to a neutral mediator or the club’s leadership team for resolution.

No Hate Speech
Hate speech, whether directed at someone within or outside the LGBTQ+ community, is strictly forbidden. This includes slurs, derogatory language, or any form of oppressive rhetoric.

Use of Facilities
​
Each member is responsible for caring of the property. There should be no defacing of furniture, no standing on furniture or partaking in any activity that might cause damage to furniture and property.

Club facilities, whether virtual or physical, should be used responsibly. Members must clean up after themselves and respect shared spaces. Any damage caused by members must be reported and may incur a fee.

Termination of Membership
​​
Membership may be revoked for violation of the club's rules or code of conduct. Termination decisions will be made by the leadership team after an investigation, and the member will be informed of the decision in writing.
Supportive Environment
Members are encouraged to support each other and create a positive, uplifting community. Constructive feedback, help, and encouragement should be the foundation of interactions.

Alcohol & Drug Policy
Members are expected to drink responsibly. The Community Centre reserves the right to not sell alcoholic beverages to members based on their perceived level of intoxication.

Age Requirement
Membership is restricted to individuals aged 18 and older.
​
Amendment of Rules
These rules are subject to change, and members will be notified of any updates or amendments. Members must agree to and abide by the updated rules to maintain their membership.
